The Rain Bird 1812 is a tall pop-up spray body from the proven Rain Bird 1800 Series, designed for irrigation areas where significantly greater nozzle clearance is required. With a pop-up height of 30.5 cm (12 inches), the 1812 raises the installed nozzle well above the surrounding vegetation. This makes it particularly suitable for planting beds, ground cover, taller grasses, perennials and other landscaped areas where shorter pop-up sprinklers may be obstructed by plants.

During irrigation, water pressure raises the stem approximately 30 cm from the sprinkler body. This positions the installed nozzle well above the surrounding vegetation and allows water to be distributed reliably across the intended irrigation area. When watering stops, a strong stainless steel return spring retracts the stem back into the body, keeping the sprinkler protected and discreetly installed when it is not operating.

The Rain Bird 1812 is supplied without a nozzle, allowing you to select a suitable Rain Bird spray or rotary nozzle according to your irrigation plan. The selected nozzle determines factors such as throw distance, watering pattern and water distribution. This makes the tall 1812 a flexible solution for differently shaped planting areas and landscaped zones.

Like the other models in the Rain Bird 1800 Series, the 1812 is designed for reliable and durable operation. Its pressure-activated wiper seal supports smooth stem movement and helps protect the internal mechanism against dirt and debris. A controlled flush during retraction helps clear debris from the unit. The durable UV-resistant plastic body and corrosion-resistant stainless steel components are designed for long-term outdoor use.

The standard Rain Bird 1812 features both bottom and side water inlets, providing additional flexibility during installation. This can be particularly useful with the relatively tall 40.6 cm body. Rain Bird advises against using the side inlet in freezing climates.

With its 30.5 cm pop-up height, the Rain Bird 1812 is the tallest standard model in the classic Rain Bird 1800 Series. While the 1804 with its 10.2 cm pop-up height is well suited to typical lawns and the 1806 provides 15.2 cm of clearance, the 1812 is designed for applications where the nozzle needs to rise significantly higher above the surrounding vegetation.

Compatible nozzles for the Rain Bird 1812

The Rain Bird 1812 accepts Rain Bird spray nozzles and can therefore be adapted to a wide range of irrigation applications. Compatible options include Rain Bird SQ, U-Series and HE-VAN spray nozzles as well as R-VAN rotary nozzles.

The selected nozzle determines the throw distance, watering pattern and water distribution. The nozzle is sold separately and is not included with the Rain Bird 1812.

Installation and use

The Rain Bird 1812 is designed for permanent installation in the ground, with the top of the sprinkler body approximately level with the surrounding surface. The standard model offers both bottom and side connection options. The bottom inlet has a 1/2-inch female thread. A suitable flexible pipe or swing joint can be used to provide a flexible connection to the underground irrigation pipe.

Due to its large 30.5 cm pop-up height, the 1812 is particularly suitable for areas with taller vegetation. For standard lawns, a shorter Rain Bird 1804 or 1806 will often be sufficient. The 1812 provides a clear advantage where plants or taller grasses would obstruct the spray from a shorter sprinkler.
