Solenoid valves for sports field irrigation
In automatic sports field irrigation systems, solenoid valves control the individual watering zones. They open and close the water supply to the connected sprinklers and are operated by an irrigation controller. This allows even large turf areas to be divided into several efficiently planned irrigation zones.
Sports fields place demanding requirements on an irrigation system. Large areas, powerful pop-up rotors and higher flow rates require appropriately sized solenoid valves. In addition to the connection size, consider the permitted operating pressure, flow capacity and technical specifications provided by the manufacturer.
Solenoid valves for high flow rates
Large irrigation systems often need to supply several powerful sprinklers simultaneously within one zone. The solenoid valve should therefore provide sufficient flow capacity for the required amount of water without creating an unnecessarily high pressure loss within the irrigation system.
For correct sizing, consider the combined water requirement of all sprinklers operating simultaneously in each zone. Pipe diameter, pipe length, available water pressure and differences in elevation are also important when planning the system. This helps you match the valves and PE pipes to the requirements of the sports field.
Control irrigation zones automatically
Large sports areas are usually divided into several irrigation zones. This allows different sections to be watered one after another and makes efficient use of the available water supply. Each zone has its own solenoid valve, which is opened and closed by the corresponding station on the irrigation controller.
Conventional systems frequently use irrigation valves with 24 V solenoids. Suitable control cables connect the valves to the irrigation controller. Depending on the installation, compatible sensors and other irrigation control components can also be integrated to provide a largely automatic watering system.
Select and install suitable solenoid valves
Solenoid valves can be installed in suitable valve boxes where they remain protected and accessible for inspection, maintenance and repairs. Compatible valve fittings and PE pipe connectors make it possible to integrate the valves into the pipework. Always observe the flow direction, connection size and manufacturer specifications.
Start by calculating the required water flow and planning the individual irrigation zones. You can then select suitable pipe diameters, solenoid valves and an irrigation controller. Careful planning creates a powerful automatic sports field irrigation system in which sprinklers, pipes and valves work reliably together.
