Rain Bird 150-PEB heavy-duty professional irrigation valve
The Rain Bird 150-PEB is a heavy-duty 24 VAC irrigation valve designed for demanding professional and commercial irrigation systems. Its 1½-inch connection size, adjustable flow control and broad hydraulic operating range make it particularly suitable for larger sprinkler zones and appropriately sized irrigation pipework.
Typical applications include parks, sports areas, commercial landscapes and other high-capacity automatic irrigation systems. The PEB Series combines robust construction with high operating pressure and convenient servicing features.
1½-inch connection for larger irrigation systems
The 150-PEB uses a larger connection than the 100-PEB. BSP threaded versions are available for international markets, allowing the valve to be integrated into 1½-inch irrigation manifolds and distribution systems.
The larger connection is particularly useful in zones carrying substantial water volumes. Pipe diameter, pipe length, available dynamic pressure and sprinkler demand should always be considered when designing the system.
Flow capacity up to 45 m³/h
Without the optional PRS-D module, Rain Bird specifies a flow range of 0.06 to 45 m³/h, equivalent to approximately 1.2 to 750 l/min.
For flows below 1.14 m³/h, Rain Bird recommends upstream filtration to help prevent debris from collecting beneath the diaphragm.
Adjustable flow control
The 150-PEB includes adjustable flow control. This allows the maximum water flow through the valve to be restricted and makes it easier to hydraulically balance individual irrigation zones.
Flow control should not be confused with pressure regulation. It adjusts the amount of water passing through the valve rather than maintaining a defined downstream pressure.
Optional PRS-D pressure regulation
The Rain Bird PRS-D pressure-regulating module can be field-installed on the 150-PEB. This provides adjustable downstream pressure regulation in addition to the standard flow-control function.
With PRS-D installed, Rain Bird specifies a flow range of 1.14 to 45 m³/h. The PRS-D module regulates up to 6.9 bar and adds approximately 5.1 cm to the overall valve height.
Heavy-duty PEB construction
The PEB Series uses industrial-strength glass-filled nylon construction designed for demanding commercial irrigation applications. Stainless steel studs are molded into the valve body, allowing the bonnet to be removed and reinstalled repeatedly during servicing without damaging plastic threads.
This robust construction makes the valve particularly suitable for irrigation systems where reliability, durability and long-term serviceability are important.
Operating pressure up to 13.8 bar
The 150-PEB operates across a pressure range of 1.4 to 13.8 bar. This allows the valve to be used in demanding systems with considerably higher supply pressures than many conventional residential irrigation valves.
The permitted valve inlet pressure should not be confused with the optimum operating pressure of the connected sprinklers. Sprinkler pressure requirements must be considered separately.
24 VAC automatic control
This version uses a conventional 24 VAC, 50/60 Hz solenoid for wired automatic irrigation controllers. The normally closed valve opens when its controller station is activated and closes again when the programmed irrigation cycle ends.
Slow closing helps reduce water hammer
The PEB Series is designed to close slowly, helping reduce water hammer and the resulting stress on irrigation pipes, fittings and other system components.
Rain Bird also recommends limiting water velocity in the supply line to approximately 2.29 m/s to further reduce the effects of water hammer.
PEB compared with PESB
The 150-PEB is the standard version for clean or adequately filtered irrigation water. The 150-PESB adds Rain Bird's patented scrubber mechanism, which continuously cleans a stainless steel screen to help resist clogging caused by sand and plant material.
For conventional irrigation water, the PEB is the standard choice. Where dirty or reclaimed water is expected, the additional cleaning mechanism of the PESB can provide an advantage.

Installation and accessories
Which fittings are required?
The European BSP version requires suitable 1½-inch male threaded fittings or removable unions. Removable connections are recommended because they make future valve servicing considerably easier.
Is upstream filtration required?
Rain Bird recommends upstream filtration for flow rates below 1.14 m³/h. Suitable filtration is also recommended whenever the irrigation water contains significant amounts of debris.
Can pressure regulation be added?
Yes. The optional Rain Bird PRS-D module can be field-installed to provide adjustable downstream pressure regulation.
Frequently asked questions about the Rain Bird 150-PEB
What is the flow range of the 150-PEB?
Rain Bird specifies a flow range of 0.06 to 45 m³/h without the optional PRS-D module.
What is the difference between the 100-PEB and 150-PEB?
The 100-PEB uses a 1-inch connection, while the 150-PEB uses a larger 1½-inch connection and a larger valve body.
Does the 150-PEB include flow control?
Yes. Adjustable flow control is standard and allows water flow to be restricted directly at the valve.
Does the 150-PEB regulate pressure?
Not as standard. Adjustable downstream pressure regulation can be added using the optional Rain Bird PRS-D module.
What is the difference between the 150-PEB and 150-PESB?
The PESB version adds a patented scrubber mechanism designed to clean a stainless steel screen and improve reliability when irrigation water contains debris.
Is the 150-PEB suitable for high-capacity sprinkler zones?
Yes. Its 1½-inch connection and high flow capacity make it suitable for demanding sprinkler zones when the water supply and pipe system are correctly sized.
