Indoor irrigation controllers
An indoor irrigation controller allows you to manage your garden watering conveniently and automatically. The controller determines when and for how long individual irrigation zones operate. Connected solenoid valves allow lawns, beds, hedges and drip irrigation areas to be watered independently.
Indoor controllers are designed for installation in a dry and protected location. Depending on the building, suitable locations may include a garage, basement, utility room or garden shed. As these controllers are generally not intended for unprotected outdoor installation, always follow the manufacturer's requirements for the installation location.
Control multiple irrigation zones
Depending on the model, an irrigation controller can operate several watering zones independently. One zone can control pop-up sprinklers for the lawn, while another operates dripline along a hedge. Additional zones can be used for vegetable beds or other areas with different watering requirements.
When choosing your controller, check the number of available stations and consider possible future extensions. Some irrigation controllers can be expanded with additional station modules, while other models have a fixed number of zones. Choosing sufficient capacity makes it easier to adapt your irrigation system later.
Add sensors and WiFi functions
Depending on the model, an indoor irrigation controller can be connected to a rain sensor, soil moisture sensor or other compatible sensors. These can help adapt automatic watering to conditions in the garden. Available sensor connections and functions vary between controllers.
Compatible controllers can also provide smart irrigation functions. Some models include network connectivity, while others can be upgraded with a suitable WiFi module. Depending on the system, you can then adjust watering schedules and manage your irrigation using a smartphone, tablet or computer.
Connect an indoor irrigation controller
In conventional 24 V irrigation systems, the controller is connected to the solenoid valves using suitable control cable. A common wire and individual station wires allow the separate irrigation zones to be activated as required. Cable connectors and suitable controller accessories help create an organised installation.
Start by planning your irrigation zones and then select an indoor controller with enough stations. Combined with solenoid valves, control cables and compatible sensors, you can create an automatic irrigation system tailored to your garden and, depending on the system, expand it with additional functions later.
