Smart irrigation control for four zones

The Rain Bird RC2I4-230V is a smart irrigation controller for four independent irrigation zones. Designed specifically for protected indoor installation, it combines reliable automatic irrigation control with built-in Wi-Fi connectivity.

Lawns, planting areas, hedges and drip irrigation can be divided into separate irrigation circuits and controlled individually. Unlike the ESP-TM2, the RC2 does not require a separate LNK2 WiFi module.

Built-in Wi-Fi without an additional module

Wi-Fi connectivity is integrated directly into the RC2. Once connected to the network, irrigation settings can be managed using the Rain Bird app, including remote access when an internet connection is available.

The controller supports 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi using IEEE 802.11 b/g/n. Bluetooth Low Energy and a direct hotspot connection are also available for local setup and access.

Convenient smartphone control

The RC2 is designed around convenient app-based programming. Watering schedules can be created and adjusted using a compatible smartphone, and individual irrigation zones can be operated manually.

LED indicators on the controller provide a quick overview of its current operating status.

Four independent irrigation zones

The RC2I4-230V provides four stations. Each station normally controls one 24V AC irrigation valve, allowing four garden areas to be watered independently.

Multiple sprinklers can operate downstream of each valve. Available water pressure, flow and combined water demand determine how many sprinklers can operate simultaneously.

Three programs and twelve start times

Three independent programs are available with up to four start times per program, providing up to twelve start times in total.

Station run times range from 1 minute to 6 hours. Watering schedules can use custom weekdays, odd or even calendar days or cyclic intervals from 1 to 30 days.

Seasonal adjustment

Seasonal adjustment from 5 to 200% allows irrigation duration to be adapted without rebuilding the complete watering schedule.

Designed for 24V AC irrigation valves

The RC2I4-230V controls conventional 24V AC irrigation valves, including suitable 24V versions of Rain Bird HV, DV, DVF, PGA and PEB valves.

Battery-operated 9V DC latching solenoids cannot be connected directly.

230V input and 24V valve control

The 230V designation refers to the controller's mains supply. Irrigation valves are controlled using 24V AC. Rain Bird specifies a maximum indoor output of 0.6A at 24V AC.

Rain sensor connection

The RC2 includes a rain sensor input with bypass capability. Compatible accessories include Rain Bird RSD-BEx and WR2 series sensors.

Master valve and pump-start support

A master valve circuit is also provided. An irrigation pump can be integrated using a suitable external pump-start relay or pump control system.

Permanent program memory

Nonvolatile memory permanently retains the current irrigation programming during a power interruption, so an external battery is not required to preserve the schedules.

Compact indoor enclosure

The RC2I4-230V is designed exclusively for protected indoor installation. Its compact enclosure measures approximately 16.7 cm wide, 16.8 cm high and only 4.0 cm deep.

Rain Bird specifies a maximum operating temperature of 50°C for the indoor model.
