Rain Bird 100-DV valve for automatic irrigation

The Rain Bird 100-DV is a robust 24 VAC solenoid valve designed for automatic lawn and garden irrigation systems. With a flow range of approximately 0.05 to 9.08 m³/h and 1-inch female threaded connections, it can control both smaller irrigation zones and higher-flow circuits with multiple pop-up sprinklers or rotors.

As part of Rain Bird's proven DV Series, the valve is designed for reliable automatic operation with conventional wired irrigation controllers.

Flow capacity up to 9.08 m³/h

The 1-inch 100-DV provides a broad flow range of approximately 0.05 to 9.08 m³/h, equivalent to approximately 0.8 to 151 l/min. This gives it considerably more flow capacity than the smaller 075-DV.

For flows below approximately 0.75 m³/h or Landscape Drip applications, Rain Bird recommends installing a 200-mesh filter upstream of the valve.

24 VAC automatic control

The 100-DV uses a 24 VAC solenoid for conventional wired irrigation controllers. When the controller activates the corresponding station, the valve opens and supplies water to the irrigation zone. When watering ends, the normally closed valve shuts off the water supply again.

Proven DV Series construction

The valve uses a balanced-pressure Buna-N diaphragm with a self-cleaning 90-mesh, 200-micron pilot water filter and captured stainless steel spring. Its eccentric diaphragm design provides smoother closing and helps reduce water hammer.

Operating pressure up to 10.4 bar

The specified operating pressure range is approximately 1.0 to 10.4 bar. The required operating pressure of downstream sprinklers, rotors or drip components must still be considered separately when designing the irrigation system.

Installation with 1-inch female threads

The international European version is available with 1-inch BSP female threaded inlet and outlet connections. Suitable 1-inch male threaded unions can therefore be used to integrate the valve into an irrigation manifold.

Installing removable unions on both sides makes future maintenance or valve replacement considerably easier.

Manual operation

The 100-DV provides internal bleed for spray-free manual operation directly at the valve. External bleed can also be used to flush dirt and debris from the system during installation and start-up.

100-DV compared with 100-DVF

The standard 100-DV does not have adjustable flow control. The 100-DVF adds a flow-control mechanism that allows the maximum water flow to be adjusted directly at the valve.

What is the flow range of the 100-DV?

Rain Bird specifies approximately 0.05 to 9.08 m³/h. The frequently quoted 0.75 m³/h value is not the minimum flow. It is the threshold below which additional 200-mesh filtration is recommended.
