Pipe cutters for irrigation systems
A good pipe cutter is one of the most useful installation tools when building your own irrigation system. It allows suitable PE pipes and other irrigation lines to be cut quickly to the required length. Compared with unsuitable cutting tools, it helps produce a cleaner and more controlled cut.
This is particularly useful when installing longer pipe runs throughout the garden. PE pipes can be cut to length on site and then connected using suitable compression fittings, elbows, tees or threaded connections. Always make sure the pipe cutter is suitable for the material and diameter of your irrigation pipe.
Cut PE pipes cleanly and straight
A clean cut makes it easier to create a reliable connection between the PE pipe and fitting. The pipe should be cut as squarely as possible without heavily deformed or damaged edges. A suitable pipe cutter makes this easier and prepares the pipe correctly for subsequent installation.
If necessary, mark the required length first and position the cutter straight on the pipe. Check the cut end after cutting. The pipe can then be inserted into the appropriate compression fitting or other compatible connection according to the installation instructions.
Pipe cutters for different pipe sizes
Irrigation systems use PE pipes in different diameters. Smaller lines can be used for certain drip and micro irrigation applications, while larger PE pipes can serve as main supply lines or supply several irrigation zones. The pipe cutter must be suitable for the relevant outside diameter.
If your irrigation system contains several pipe sizes, a cutter with a suitable working range can be particularly practical. Before cutting, check that the tool is designed for the pipe type and diameter. This allows you to work cleanly when installing a new system or expanding an existing one.
Install irrigation pipes yourself
With a pipe cutter and suitable PE pipe fittings, you can install many parts of your irrigation pipework yourself. Cut pipes can be extended with straight compression fittings, routed around corners with elbows or divided into several lines using tees.
After installation, check all connections and test the irrigation system for leaks under operating pressure. A suitable pipe cutter is useful not only during the initial installation but also for repairs and future extensions to your garden irrigation system.
