The Rain Bird 5004+PC is a gear-driven pop-up rotor designed for automatic irrigation of medium to large lawn areas. Its adjustable 40° to 360° watering arc allows the same rotor to be used for part-circle applications along boundaries and corners or for complete 360° coverage within open lawn areas.

The most distinctive feature of the Plus version is its green top. Rain Bird uses the green cover to identify 5000 Plus rotors equipped with Flow Shut-Off, while standard 5000 models use a black cover.

Flow Shut-Off directly at the rotor

The Plus Flow Shut-Off feature allows you to stop the water flow directly at an individual rotor while other sprinklers in the same irrigation zone continue operating. There is no need to return to the controller or shut off the complete valve zone.

This is particularly useful during installation and maintenance. Individual rotors can be shut down for nozzle changes, adjustment or troubleshooting while the rest of the system remains pressurised. Rain Bird also highlights the ability to flush a zone and troubleshoot leaks more efficiently using this feature.

Rain Curtain nozzle technology

Rain Curtain nozzles provide even water distribution throughout the watering radius. Larger droplets improve wind resistance, while effective close-in watering helps irrigate the area immediately around the sprinkler.

The interchangeable nozzle system allows flow, radius and trajectory to be matched to the irrigation layout. Standard Rain Curtain nozzles use a 25° trajectory, while low-angle nozzles provide a lower 10° trajectory.

Installation

The 5004+PC has a 3/4-inch female threaded bottom inlet for connection to an underground irrigation system. A flexible swing pipe connection or swing joint is useful for positioning the rotor accurately and setting the correct installation height.

The body is approximately 18.5 cm high and the riser extends approximately 10.2 cm during operation. The top of the retracted rotor should sit approximately level with the finished lawn surface.

5004-PC compared with 5004+PC

The standard 5004-PC and the 5004+PC share the same basic rotor platform, adjustable watering arc and coverage range. The major difference is Flow Shut-Off. The standard model requires the irrigation zone to be shut down to stop water at the rotor, while the Plus version can be switched off individually at the head.

The models are also easy to distinguish visually: standard 5000 rotors have a black cover, while the 5000 Plus version features Rain Bird's distinctive green top.

Are Rain Curtain nozzles included?

Yes. A Rain Curtain nozzle set is supplied for adapting the rotor to different flow and watering requirements. The nozzle selection includes standard 25° and low-angle 10° options.

What does the green top mean?

The green top identifies the Rain Bird 5000 Plus version with Flow Shut-Off. It makes Plus models easy to distinguish from standard 5000 rotors with black covers.

Can I shut off only one sprinkler?

Yes. Flow Shut-Off allows an individual 5004+PC rotor to be switched off at the head while the other sprinklers in the irrigation zone continue operating.

Does Plus mean that the rotor is pressure regulated?

No. Plus refers to Flow Shut-Off. Pressure regulation is a separate feature found on designated PRS or R versions of the Rain Bird 5000 Series.

Does this model include a SAM check valve?

No. This version provides Flow Shut-Off but does not include the SAM check valve. Rain Bird also offers 5000 Plus variants that combine Plus with SAM for irrigation areas with elevation changes.
