Micro tubing for micro irrigation
Micro tubing provides a flexible solution for targeted watering of individual plants and small planted areas. It is used as a small distribution line within a micro irrigation system, carrying water from a larger supply pipe directly to the required watering point. Individual drippers or micro sprinklers can then be connected.
Its small diameter makes micro tubing particularly easy to route around plants and garden features. You can reach individual plants without running a larger supply pipe directly past every watering point. This makes it ideal for beds, raised beds, plant pots, window boxes, greenhouses and other areas with individually positioned plants.
Connect individual drippers flexibly
A common use for micro tubing is connecting individual drippers to a larger supply line. A small outlet is created from the supply pipe and the micro tubing is routed to the required plant. A compatible dripper can then be installed at the end and positioned close to the root area.
This makes it easy to water plants that are spaced further apart. Depending on your system, you can use drippers with fixed or adjustable flow rates. Stakes and suitable fixing accessories help keep the micro tubing in position and allow each watering point to be placed accurately beside the plant.
Connect micro sprinklers and nozzles
Micro tubing can also be used with compatible micro sprinklers and micro nozzles. These components are useful for watering smaller beds, groups of plants and other limited areas. The flexible tubing allows each sprinkler to be positioned independently of the exact route of the main supply line.
When planning your system, make sure the tubing diameter matches the connectors, drippers and sprinklers you intend to use. Operating pressure and available water flow should also suit the selected micro irrigation components. Filters and pressure regulators can provide suitable operating conditions where required.
Install micro tubing yourself
Micro tubing can be cut to the required length and connected using suitable micro fittings. Straight connectors, tees and other fittings allow you to create an individual layout. This makes it easy to adapt your micro irrigation system to the arrangement of your plants and expand it later.
Combined with dripline, individual drippers and suitable accessories, micro tubing allows you to build a versatile drip and micro irrigation system yourself. An irrigation controller can automate the water supply, providing regular and targeted watering for beds, raised beds, pots and individual plants.
