The Rain Bird 3504-PC is a compact gear-driven pop-up rotor designed for automatic irrigation of small to medium-sized lawns. With a radius of approximately 4.6 to 10.7 m, it provides greater reach than many conventional spray heads while remaining compact enough for residential irrigation systems.

One of its key advantages is the adjustable 40° to 360° watering arc. The same sprinkler can therefore be used for part-circle irrigation along lawn edges or set to a complete 360° pattern when installed within an open lawn area.

Rain Curtain nozzle technology

Rain Bird equips the 3500 Series with Rain Curtain nozzles designed to provide uniform water distribution throughout the watering radius. Larger droplets improve resistance to wind, while gentle close-in watering helps irrigate the area immediately around the sprinkler.

Depending on the installed nozzle and operating pressure, the flow rate ranges from approximately 2.0 to 17.4 l/min. This allows the sprinkler to be adapted to different lawn sizes, available water capacities and irrigation layouts.

Installation and connection

The 3504-PC has a 1/2-inch female threaded bottom inlet for connection to an underground irrigation system. A flexible swing pipe or swing joint can be used between the irrigation pipe and sprinkler, making it easier to position the rotor at the correct height.

The body is approximately 16.8 cm high and the riser extends approximately 10.2 cm during operation. When installed correctly, the top of the retracted sprinkler should sit approximately level with the finished lawn surface.

Arc and radius adjustment

The watering arc can be adjusted from 40° to 360° from the top of the rotor using a standard flat-blade screwdriver. This makes the 3504-PC suitable for corners, lawn edges and full-circle positions. The radius can also be reduced using the radius adjustment screw.

The actual watering distance depends on the installed Rain Curtain nozzle, operating pressure and available flow. Correct sprinkler spacing and overlapping coverage are important when designing a uniform lawn irrigation system.

3504-PC or 3504-PC-SAM?

The standard 3504-PC does not include a SAM check valve. For level lawn areas this version is often suitable. The 3504-PC-SAM adds Rain Bird's Seal-A-Matic check valve, which can hold back up to approximately 2.1 m of elevation difference and helps prevent low-head drainage after irrigation stops.
