4/6 mm micro tubing in a 300 m coil
The Rain Bird XQ-1000 is flexible 4/6 mm (¼") micro tubing designed to distribute water within micro and drip irrigation systems. The small distribution tubing can be used to connect individual drip emitters, micro sprays and other irrigation components to a main supply line.
With a 300 m coil length, XQ-1000 is particularly suitable for larger irrigation installations and systems with many individual watering points. The tubing can be cut to the required length during installation.
Route water directly to emitters
XQ-1000 is used as distribution tubing to carry water from a main line to individual emitters or micro sprays. This allows irrigation points to be positioned directly at the plants regardless of the exact route of the main supply line.
Typical applications include planting beds, hedges, shrubs, raised beds, containers and other landscaped areas where multiple plants need to be supplied individually by a micro irrigation system.
Flexible and easy to install
Rain Bird uses a special polymer blend for the XQ series that combines high flexibility with secure retention on barbed connections. A textured surface also improves handling during installation.
The micro tubing is manufactured from UV-resistant polyethylene for irrigation applications. Its flexible construction makes it easy to route along planting rows, beds and individual plants.
Compatible with 4-6 mm fittings
XQ-1000 can be combined with compatible Rain Bird fittings for 4-6 mm distribution tubing. These include BF-1 straight couplings, BF-2 elbows and BF-3 tees.
The tubing also fits compatible barbed outlets on Rain Bird Xerigation emitters and other micro irrigation components, allowing an individual distribution network to be created according to the layout of the plants.
4.3 mm inside and 6.3 mm outside diameter
Rain Bird specifies an inside diameter of 4.3 mm and an outside diameter of 6.3 mm for XQ distribution tubing. The wall thickness is 1.0 mm. Rain Bird identifies this tubing size as ¼" or 6 mm distribution tubing.
The maximum operating pressure is 4.1 bar. XQ-1000 does not contain integrated emitters or outlet holes. Its purpose is to carry water to separately connected drip emitters, micro sprays and other irrigation devices.

Frequently asked questions about Rain Bird XQ-1000
What is the difference between XQ-100 and XQ-1000?
The main difference is the coil length. In the international Rain Bird range, XQ-100 is supplied as a 30 m coil while XQ-1000 is supplied as a larger 300 m coil. The tubing dimensions and fundamental characteristics are the same.
What does 4/6 mm mean?
The designation describes the nominal tubing size. Rain Bird specifies an exact inside diameter of 4.3 mm and an outside diameter of 6.3 mm. Rain Bird also identifies this size as ¼" distribution tubing.
What is XQ-1000 used for?
XQ-1000 carries water from a main supply line to individual drip emitters, micro sprays and other components within a micro irrigation system.
Which fittings are compatible with XQ-1000?
XQ-1000 can be used with compatible Rain Bird fittings for 4-6 mm distribution tubing, including BF-1 straight couplings, BF-2 elbows and BF-3 tees.
Is XQ-1000 a dripline?
No. XQ-1000 does not contain integrated emitters. It is distribution tubing used to supply separate drip emitters, micro sprays and other irrigation components.
When is the 300 m coil useful?
The 300 m coil is particularly useful for larger micro irrigation installations or projects with many individual plants and watering points where a larger continuous supply of tubing is required.
