Rain Bird 5004-PC rotor for larger lawns

The Rain Bird 5004-PC is a professional gear-driven pop-up rotor designed for automatic irrigation of medium to large lawn areas. Its broad operating range makes it particularly suitable for residential gardens, larger green spaces and irrigation systems where conventional spray heads do not provide sufficient coverage.

The watering arc can be adjusted from 40° to 360°, allowing the same rotor to be used along lawn edges, in corners and within open lawn areas. During operation, the 10.2 cm riser extends above the turf and retracts into the body when irrigation stops.

Rain Curtain nozzle technology

Rain Bird's Rain Curtain technology is designed to provide even water distribution throughout the complete watering radius. Larger droplets improve wind resistance, while effective close-in watering helps prevent dry areas immediately around the rotor.

The interchangeable nozzle system also allows the flow and watering performance to be adapted to the irrigation layout. This is particularly useful when different sprinklers within one system operate with different arcs.

Part-circle and full-circle adjustment

The 5004-PC can be adjusted from 40° to 360°. This allows one model to cover a wide range of positions within the lawn. A corner sprinkler can be adjusted to a smaller sector, while a centrally positioned rotor can provide complete 360° coverage.

Arc adjustment is accessible from the top of the sprinkler and can be performed using a flat-blade screwdriver. A slip-clutch mechanism also makes initial alignment easier during installation.

Installation and connection

The Rain Bird 5004-PC has a 3/4-inch female threaded bottom inlet. A flexible swing pipe connection or swing joint is particularly useful when installing the rotor because it makes accurate positioning and height adjustment easier.

The body is approximately 18.5 cm high and the riser extends approximately 10.2 cm during operation. The top of the retracted rotor should be installed approximately level with the finished lawn surface.

Radius adjustment

The watering radius depends on the installed nozzle, operating pressure and available flow. Rain Bird specifies a radius range of approximately 7.6 to 15.2 m. The radius adjustment screw can reduce the throw by up to approximately 25% without changing the nozzle.

5004-PC compared with the 3504-PC

The 5004-PC is designed for larger lawn areas than the more compact 3504-PC. It provides greater maximum coverage and uses a 3/4-inch bottom inlet instead of the 1/2-inch connection found on the 3500 Series. Its larger nozzle selection also provides additional flexibility when designing larger irrigation zones.
