Rain Bird 100-PGA-9V professional battery-operated irrigation valve

The Rain Bird 100-PGA-9V combines the heavy-duty construction of the professional PGA Series with a 9 VDC latching solenoid for compatible battery-operated irrigation controllers. With 1-inch BSP female connections, adjustable flow control and a flow range of 0.45 to 34.05 m³/h, it is suitable for demanding automatic irrigation systems where conventional mains-powered control is unavailable.

Typical applications include larger residential gardens, commercial landscapes and remote irrigation valve stations. The battery-control capability makes it possible to automate demanding sprinkler zones without installing a conventional 24 VAC controller at the valve location.

9 VDC latching solenoid

Unlike the standard 100-PGA with a 24 VAC solenoid, the 100-PGA-9V uses a 9 VDC latching solenoid. It requires only a short electrical pulse to switch state, making it suitable for low-power battery-operated irrigation controllers.

The controller must specifically support this type of latching solenoid. The valve should not be connected directly to a conventional 24 VAC irrigation controller output.

Flow capacity up to 34.05 m³/h

Without the optional PRS-D module, Rain Bird specifies a flow range of 0.45 to 34.05 m³/h, equivalent to approximately 7.8 to 568 l/min.

Actual available flow depends on dynamic water pressure, pipe diameter, pipe length and the combined water requirements of all sprinklers operating within the irrigation zone.

Adjustable flow control

The PGA Series includes an adjustable non-rising flow-control handle. This allows water flow to be restricted directly at the valve and makes it easier to hydraulically balance individual irrigation zones.

Optional PRS-D pressure regulation

The 100-PGA-9V is compatible with the separately available Rain Bird PRS-D pressure-regulating module. This provides adjustable downstream pressure regulation in addition to the valve's standard flow-control function.

Designed for demanding irrigation systems

The PGA Series uses durable PVC and glass-reinforced nylon construction. Filtered pilot flow helps resist debris and clogging, while slow closing helps reduce water hammer and resulting stress on irrigation pipes and fittings.

Operating pressure up to 10.35 bar

The 100-PGA-9V operates across a pressure range of approximately 1.04 to 10.35 bar. This allows the battery-operated version to be used in demanding irrigation systems as well as conventional residential installations.

1-inch BSP female connections

The European I-100-PGA-9V uses 1-inch BSP female threaded connections. Suitable 1-inch male threaded fittings or removable unions can therefore be used to integrate the valve into an irrigation manifold.

Ideal for remote valve boxes

The 100-PGA-9V is particularly useful where a valve box is located away from a conventional electrical supply. Combined with a compatible battery-operated controller, the irrigation zone can be automated without installing a mains-powered controller at the valve location.
