The Rain Bird 100-DV-MM is a high-capacity 24 VAC solenoid valve for automatic lawn and garden irrigation systems. With a flow range of 0.05 to 9.08 m³/h and 1-inch male threads on both the inlet and outlet, it is suitable for irrigation zones ranging from smaller sprinkler circuits to higher-flow rotor installations.

The MM configuration combines the proven technology of the Rain Bird DV Series with convenient male threaded connections, making the valve particularly easy to integrate into compact irrigation manifolds.

Male x male connections

MM stands for Male x Male. Unlike the standard I100-DV with female threaded connections, the I100-DV-MM features 1-inch male threads on both sides.

Suitable female threaded unions can be connected directly to the valve. Removable unions are particularly useful because they simplify installation, servicing and future valve replacement.

Flow capacity up to 9.08 m³/h

The 100-DV-MM provides a broad flow range of approximately 0.05 to 9.08 m³/h, equivalent to approximately 0.8 to 151 l/min. This makes it suitable for higher-flow irrigation zones with multiple pop-up sprinklers or gear-driven rotors.

The actual number of sprinklers that can operate simultaneously depends on available dynamic pressure, pipe sizing and the combined flow requirements of the sprinklers.

24 VAC automatic control

The standard 100-DV-MM uses a 24 VAC solenoid and is designed for conventional wired irrigation controllers. When the corresponding controller station is activated, the valve opens automatically and supplies water to the irrigation zone.

Proven DV Series design

The DV Series uses a double-filtered pilot-flow design and a balanced-pressure Buna-N diaphragm for reliable operation. Its eccentric diaphragm design provides smooth closing and helps reduce water hammer within the irrigation system.

Operating pressure up to 10.4 bar

The specified operating pressure range is approximately 1.0 to 10.4 bar. The pressure requirements of downstream sprinklers, nozzles and drip components must still be considered separately when designing the irrigation system.

Manual operation

The valve can also be operated manually. Internal bleed provides spray-free manual operation, while external bleed can be used to flush dirt and debris from the system during installation and commissioning.

Installation in a valve box

The 100-DV-MM is normally installed in an underground irrigation valve box. Several valves can be arranged together to form a manifold, with each valve controlling a separate irrigation zone.

The pipework should be thoroughly flushed before installation and the flow direction marked on the valve body must be observed. Waterproof wire connectors are recommended for the electrical connections.

100-DV compared with 100-DV-MM

Both models use the same basic DV Series technology and have the same fundamental pressure and flow range. The key difference is the connection type.

The I100-DV uses 1-inch female threaded connections, while the I100-DV-MM has 1-inch male threads on both sides. The best option therefore depends mainly on the design of the irrigation manifold and the fittings being used.
