Rain Bird 100-HV-MM with 1-inch male threads

The Rain Bird 100-HV-MM is a compact 24 VAC solenoid valve designed for automatic lawn and garden irrigation systems. Unlike the standard female-threaded 100-HV version, the MM model features 1-inch male threads on both the inlet and outlet, making it particularly convenient for compact irrigation manifolds and valve boxes.

With a flow range of approximately 0.05 to 6.82 m³/h and an operating pressure range of 1.0 to 10.3 bar, the valve can control a wide variety of irrigation zones including pop-up sprinklers, rotors and, with appropriate filtration and pressure control, drip irrigation systems.

Male x male connection

MM stands for Male x Male. Both sides of the valve feature 1-inch male threaded connections. Suitable female threaded unions can therefore be connected directly to the valve.

This configuration can simplify manifold construction and makes the 100-HV-MM particularly useful where several valves need to be installed close together inside a valve box.

24 VAC automatic control

The 100-HV-MM uses a 24 VAC solenoid and is designed for conventional wired irrigation controllers. When the controller activates a station, the valve opens and supplies water to the corresponding irrigation zone.

Flow capacity up to 6.82 m³/h

Rain Bird specifies a flow range of approximately 0.05 to 6.82 m³/h, equivalent to approximately 0.8 to 113 l/min.

For flows below 0.68 m³/h or Xerigation and landscape drip applications, Rain Bird specifies a 200-mesh filter installed upstream of the valve.

Wide operating pressure range

The valve operates between approximately 1.0 and 10.3 bar. The operating pressure required by downstream sprinklers, rotors or drip components must still be considered when designing the irrigation system.

Smooth closing and durable construction

The HV Series uses an eccentric balanced-pressure diaphragm designed for smoother closing and reduced water hammer. The body is manufactured from glass-filled polypropylene for strength and long-term use in irrigation systems.

Compact design for valve boxes

The male-threaded version is approximately 11.4 cm high, 14.4 cm long and 7.9 cm wide. Its compact dimensions make it well suited to multi-valve manifolds where installation space is limited.

Installation

The valve should normally be installed in a suitable irrigation valve box. Always observe the flow direction marked on the valve body and thoroughly flush the irrigation pipework before installation.

Suitable 1-inch female threaded unions can be connected directly to the male threads. Removable unions are particularly useful because they simplify future maintenance and valve replacement.

100-HV-MM compared with 100-HV

Both valves belong to the same HV Series and offer the same basic operating range. The main difference is the connection type. The I100-HV-BSP uses female threads on both sides, while the 100-HV-MM uses male threads on both the inlet and outlet.

The standard 100-HV-MM uses a 24 VAC solenoid for wired irrigation controllers. The 100-HV-MM-9V uses a 9 VDC latching solenoid designed for compatible battery-operated irrigation controllers.
