Rain Bird 200-PGA professional 24V irrigation valve
The Rain Bird 200-PGA is a heavy-duty professional irrigation valve designed for large automatic irrigation systems with high water demand. Its 2-inch female BSP connections, integrated flow control and broad operating range make it particularly suitable for large sprinkler zones, sports fields, parks and commercial landscapes.
The European I-200-PGA is the largest connection size in this group of PGA valves and is designed for integration into appropriately sized 2-inch irrigation pipework.
2-inch connections for high-flow irrigation systems
The I-200-PGA features 2-inch BSP female threaded connections on the inlet and outlet. This makes it particularly suitable for large-diameter irrigation manifolds and distribution pipes.
The larger connection helps integrate the valve into high-flow pipe systems without unnecessarily reducing the pipe diameter at the valve location.
Flow capacity up to 34.05 m³/h
Without the optional PRS-D module, Rain Bird specifies a flow range of 0.45 to 34.05 m³/h, equivalent to approximately 7.8 to 568 l/min.
The actual available flow depends on dynamic water pressure, pipe diameter, pipe length and the combined water requirements of all sprinklers operating within the irrigation zone.
Adjustable flow control
The 200-PGA includes an adjustable non-rising flow-control handle. This allows water flow to be restricted directly at the valve and helps hydraulically balance large irrigation zones.
Flow control does not provide regulated downstream pressure. When defined pressure regulation is required, the optional Rain Bird PRS-D module can be installed.
Optional PRS-D pressure regulation
The PGA Series accepts the separately available Rain Bird PRS-D pressure-regulating module. This allows downstream pressure to be adjusted at the valve to match the requirements of the irrigation zone.
With PRS-D installed, Rain Bird specifies a flow range of 1.14 to 34.05 m³/h.
24 VAC automatic control
This version uses a 24 VAC solenoid for conventional wired irrigation controllers. The normally closed valve opens when the corresponding controller station is activated and closes automatically when watering ends.
Heavy-duty PGA construction
The PGA Series uses durable PVC and glass-reinforced nylon construction with a reinforced rubber diaphragm. Filtered pilot flow helps resist debris and clogging of the solenoid ports.
Slow closing helps reduce water hammer and the resulting stress on pipes, fittings and other components within the irrigation system.
Flexible globe and angle configuration
The PGA Series offers globe and angle configurations, providing additional flexibility when designing large irrigation manifolds and valve stations.
This is particularly useful with 2-inch pipework where available installation space and pipe routing can significantly influence the design of the valve manifold.
Manual operation
Internal manual bleed allows the valve to be operated without discharging water into the valve box. External manual bleed can be used to flush debris from the system during commissioning and after repairs.
200-PGA compared with 150-PGA
The main difference is connection size. The 150-PGA uses 1½-inch connections, while the 200-PGA uses 2-inch connections and has a substantially larger valve body.
Both models have the same Rain Bird specified maximum flow of 34.05 m³/h. The 200-PGA is therefore primarily the appropriate choice for irrigation systems designed around larger 2-inch pipework rather than simply being a higher-flow version of the 150-PGA.

Installation and accessories
Which fittings are required?
The European I-200-PGA uses 2-inch BSP female threads. Suitable 2-inch male threaded fittings or removable unions are therefore required for installation.
Can pressure regulation be added?
Yes. The optional Rain Bird PRS-D module can be field-installed to provide adjustable downstream pressure regulation.
Which valve box should be used?
The 200-PGA is significantly larger than the 100-PGA and 150-PGA. A suitably large valve box should provide sufficient space for the valve, 2-inch fittings, electrical connections, flow-control adjustment and future servicing.
Frequently asked questions about the Rain Bird 200-PGA
What is the flow range of the 200-PGA?
Rain Bird specifies 0.45 to 34.05 m³/h without the optional PRS-D module, equivalent to approximately 7.8 to 568 l/min.
Does the 200-PGA include adjustable flow control?
Yes. Adjustable flow control is standard and allows the water flow to be restricted directly at the valve.
Does the 200-PGA regulate water pressure?
Not as standard. The optional Rain Bird PRS-D module can be installed when adjustable downstream pressure regulation is required.
What is the difference between the 150-PGA and 200-PGA?
The 150-PGA uses 1½-inch connections, while the 200-PGA uses larger 2-inch connections. The 200-PGA also has a considerably larger valve body.
Does the 200-PGA have a higher maximum flow than the 150-PGA?
No. Rain Bird specifies a maximum flow of 34.05 m³/h for both models. The larger 2-inch connection is intended for integration into appropriately sized high-flow pipe systems.
Can the PGA Series be used with battery-powered controllers?
Yes. The PGA platform can also accept a compatible latching solenoid for use with suitable Rain Bird battery-operated irrigation controllers.
