Rain Bird 150-PGA professional 24V irrigation valve
The Rain Bird 150-PGA is a heavy-duty professional irrigation valve designed for automatic systems with high water demand. Its 1½-inch BSP female connections, integrated flow control and broad flow range make it particularly suitable for larger sprinkler zones, commercial landscapes and demanding irrigation installations.
With a specified flow range of 0.45 to 34.05 m³/h, the 150-PGA can handle irrigation zones using multiple high-capacity gear-driven rotors and other sprinklers requiring substantial water flow.
1½-inch connections for larger pipe systems
The European I-150-PGA features 1½-inch BSP female threaded inlet and outlet connections. This makes it suitable for integration into larger-diameter irrigation manifolds and pipe systems.
The larger connection does not increase Rain Bird's specified maximum flow compared with the 100-PGA. Both models are rated up to 34.05 m³/h, but the 1½-inch configuration is better suited to appropriately sized pipework carrying high flow rates.
Flow capacity up to 34.05 m³/h
Without the optional PRS-D module, Rain Bird specifies a flow range of 0.45 to 34.05 m³/h, equivalent to approximately 7.8 to 568 l/min.
Available dynamic pressure, pipe diameter, pipe length and the combined water requirements of all sprinklers must be considered when designing the irrigation zone.
Adjustable flow control
The 150-PGA includes an adjustable non-rising flow-control handle. This allows the maximum water flow to be restricted directly at the valve and makes it easier to hydraulically balance individual irrigation zones.
Flow control does not regulate downstream pressure. When defined pressure regulation is required, the optional Rain Bird PRS-D module can be installed.
Optional PRS-D pressure regulation
The 150-PGA is compatible with the field-installed Rain Bird PRS-D pressure-regulating module. This allows downstream pressure to be adjusted to suit the requirements of the irrigation zone.
With PRS-D installed, Rain Bird specifies a flow range of 1.14 to 34.05 m³/h. The PRS-D is sold separately and adds approximately 5.1 cm to the overall valve height.
24 VAC automatic control
This version uses a 24 VAC solenoid and is designed for conventional wired irrigation controllers. The normally closed valve opens when the corresponding controller station is activated and closes automatically when watering ends.
Heavy-duty PGA construction
The PGA Series uses durable PVC and glass-reinforced nylon construction. Filtered pilot flow helps resist debris and clogging, while slow closing helps reduce water hammer and resulting stress on irrigation pipes and fittings.
Globe and angle configuration
The PGA Series offers flexible globe and angle configurations, allowing the valve to be adapted to different manifold layouts and pipe arrangements.
The valve is normally installed in a suitably sized underground valve box, maintaining access to the solenoid, flow-control handle and optional PRS-D module.
150-PGA compared with 100-PGA
The primary difference is connection size. The 100-PGA uses 1-inch connections, while the 150-PGA uses larger 1½-inch connections. The 150-PGA is also physically larger.
Both valves share the same specified maximum flow of 34.05 m³/h. The larger 150-PGA connection is particularly useful when the irrigation system uses larger-diameter pipework and operates at high flow rates.

Installation and accessories
Which fittings are required?
The European I-150-PGA uses 1½-inch BSP female threads. Suitable fittings or removable unions with 1½-inch male threads are therefore required for installation.
Can pressure regulation be added?
Yes. The optional Rain Bird PRS-D module can be field-installed to provide adjustable downstream pressure regulation.
Which valve box should be used?
The 150-PGA is larger than the 100-PGA, so a sufficiently sized valve box should be selected. Allow enough space for the fittings, electrical connections, flow-control adjustment and future maintenance.
Frequently asked questions about the Rain Bird 150-PGA
What is the flow range of the 150-PGA?
Rain Bird specifies 0.45 to 34.05 m³/h without the optional PRS-D module, equivalent to approximately 7.8 to 568 l/min.
Does the 150-PGA have adjustable flow control?
Yes. Adjustable flow control is standard and allows water flow to be restricted directly at the valve.
Does the valve include pressure regulation?
No. Pressure regulation is not integrated as standard, but the optional Rain Bird PRS-D module can be added.
Why does the 150-PGA have the same maximum flow as the 100-PGA?
Rain Bird specifies the same maximum flow for both valves. The larger 1½-inch connection of the 150-PGA is primarily advantageous when integrating the valve into larger pipe systems operating at high flow rates.
What is the difference between the 24V and 9V versions?
The standard 150-PGA uses a 24 VAC solenoid for wired irrigation controllers. The 150-PGA-9V uses a latching solenoid for compatible battery-operated irrigation controllers.
