Rain Bird 100-PEB heavy-duty professional irrigation valve

The Rain Bird 100-PEB is a heavy-duty 24 VAC irrigation valve designed for demanding commercial and professional irrigation systems. Its glass-filled nylon construction, adjustable flow control and broad operating range make it particularly suitable for large landscapes, sports areas and high-capacity sprinkler zones.

With a specified flow range of 0.06 to 45 m³/h and an operating pressure of 1.4 to 13.8 bar, the 100-PEB offers substantially higher hydraulic capacity than many conventional residential irrigation valves.

Designed for demanding commercial irrigation

Rain Bird describes the PEB Series as its most durable plastic irrigation valve platform. The industrial-strength glass-filled nylon globe valve is designed to withstand demanding operating conditions.

Stainless steel studs are molded into the valve body, allowing the bonnet to be removed and reinstalled repeatedly during servicing without placing unnecessary stress on plastic threads.

Flow capacity up to 45 m³/h

Without the optional PRS-D module, the 100-PEB operates across a specified flow range of 0.06 to 45 m³/h, equivalent to approximately 1.2 to 750 l/min.

For flows below 1.14 m³/h, Rain Bird recommends upstream filtration to help prevent debris from collecting beneath the diaphragm. At flows below 2.27 m³/h, Rain Bird recommends turning the flow-control stem down two full turns from the fully open position.

Operating pressure up to 13.8 bar

The PEB Series operates between 1.4 and 13.8 bar, making it suitable for demanding irrigation systems with relatively high supply pressures.

The permitted valve inlet pressure should not be confused with the optimum operating pressure of the connected sprinklers. Sprinkler pressure requirements must be considered separately when designing the irrigation zone.

Adjustable flow control

The integrated flow-control handle allows the maximum water flow through the valve to be restricted. This makes it easier to hydraulically balance individual irrigation zones and match the valve output to the connected sprinklers.

Flow control does not automatically regulate downstream pressure. Pressure regulation can be added using the optional Rain Bird PRS-D module.

Optional PRS-D pressure regulation

The 100-PEB accepts the field-installed Rain Bird PRS-D pressure-regulating module. This provides adjustable downstream pressure regulation of up to 6.9 bar.

With PRS-D installed, Rain Bird specifies a flow range of 1.14 to 45 m³/h.

24 VAC automatic control

The standard 100-PEB uses a 24 VAC, 50/60 Hz solenoid for conventional wired irrigation controllers. The normally closed valve opens when its controller station is activated and closes again when irrigation ends.

Slow closing helps reduce water hammer

The PEB Series is designed to close slowly, helping reduce water hammer and the resulting stress on irrigation pipes, fittings and other system components. This is particularly valuable in systems operating at high flow rates.

Manual operation and servicing

Internal manual bleed allows the valve to be operated without discharging water into the valve box. External manual bleed can be used to flush debris from the system during commissioning or after servicing.

PEB compared with PESB

The standard PEB is designed for conventional irrigation water. The PESB adds Rain Bird's patented scrubber technology, using a nylon scrubber to clean a stainless steel screen and help prevent debris accumulation and clogging.

For irrigation systems with clean or adequately filtered water, the PEB is the conventional choice. Where dirty or reclaimed water is expected, the additional self-cleaning mechanism of the PESB can provide an advantage.

Installation and accessories

Which fittings are required?

The European BSP version uses 1-inch female threads. Suitable 1-inch male threaded fittings or removable unions are therefore required for installation.

Is filtration recommended?
