The Rain Bird 1804-SAM-PRS30 is a professional pop-up spray body from the proven Rain Bird 1800 Series that combines two important functions: an integrated Seal-A-Matic™ check valve and PRS-30 pressure regulation. This makes the sprinkler particularly suitable for automatic lawn irrigation systems with elevation changes as well as systems with high or fluctuating water pressure.

The patented PRS-30 pressure regulator is integrated directly into the stem and maintains the outlet pressure at approximately 2.1 bar (30 psi). Rain Bird recommends 30 psi for optimum spray nozzle performance. Excessive pressure can cause water to form a fine mist that is more easily carried away by wind. Regulating the pressure at the spray body helps reduce misting and supports more efficient and consistent water distribution.

In addition to pressure regulation, the Rain Bird 1804-SAM-PRS30 features an integrated Seal-A-Matic™ check valve. The SAM valve can hold water in the lateral pipe with elevation differences of up to 4.2 m (14 feet). This helps prevent water from draining through sprinklers installed at lower points after the irrigation zone has shut down, reducing water loss, puddling and erosion.

With a pop-up height of 10.2 cm (4 inches), the 1804-SAM-PRS30 is particularly well suited to typical lawn areas and other low-growing landscaped areas. During irrigation, water pressure raises the stem above the surrounding grass. When watering stops, a strong stainless steel retract spring reliably returns the stem into the sprinkler body.

The Rain Bird 1804-SAM-PRS30 is supplied without a nozzle, allowing you to select a suitable Rain Bird spray nozzle according to the required throw distance and watering pattern. The 2.1 bar pressure regulation is designed to provide optimum operating conditions for spray nozzles. For Rain Bird rotary nozzles requiring higher operating pressure, a PRS-45 model with 3.1 bar pressure regulation is the more appropriate option.

The combination of a 10.2 cm pop-up height, SAM check valve and PRS-30 pressure regulation makes the 1804-SAM-PRS30 particularly useful for demanding irrigation systems. Rain Bird recommends 2.1 bar for optimum spray nozzle performance. Pressure regulation helps reduce misting and fogging caused by excessive pressure, allowing more of the irrigation water to reach the intended area.

Seal-A-Matic check valve for slopes

The integrated Seal-A-Matic™ check valve helps prevent low-head drainage after an irrigation zone shuts down. It can retain water in the lateral pipe with elevation differences of up to 4.2 m, making the sprinkler particularly useful for sloping lawns and landscaped areas.

Combining SAM and PRS-30 in a single spray body provides an effective solution for irrigation systems where both elevation changes and high or fluctuating water pressure need to be managed.

Compatible nozzles for the Rain Bird 1804-SAM-PRS30

The Rain Bird 1804-SAM-PRS30 is particularly suitable for Rain Bird spray nozzles. Depending on the required throw distance and watering pattern, compatible Rain Bird HE-VAN, VAN, U-Series, MPR and other suitable spray nozzles can be selected.

The nozzle is sold separately and is not included with the spray body. For Rain Bird rotary nozzles requiring higher operating pressure, a PRS-45 model with 3.1 bar pressure regulation is recommended for optimum performance.
