Targeted irrigation directly in the root zone

The Rain Bird RWS-S-B-1401 is a compact root watering system designed for trees and shrubs. Water is delivered below the soil surface directly into the root zone, helping provide water and air where they are needed by the plant's root system.

At only 25.4 cm long, the RWS-S-B-1401 is the compact Supplemental version of the Rain Bird RWS series. It is particularly suitable for shrubs, smaller woody plants and applications where the larger 45.7 or 91.4 cm RWS systems are not required.

1401 bubbler with 0.95 l/min included

The RWS-S-B-1401 is factory equipped with a Rain Bird 1401 bubbler. It delivers 0.95 l/min, corresponding to approximately 57 l/h, providing controlled water delivery directly within the root watering system.

The bubbler is positioned inside the root watering assembly. Water enters the perforated basket structure and is distributed into the surrounding soil and root zone.

Below-ground irrigation with reduced losses

Because water is delivered below the surface, losses caused by wind and surface evaporation are reduced. The system also supports deeper irrigation and can help discourage shallow root development.

Rain Bird states that the RWS series can provide distribution uniformity of up to 95%, making below-ground root watering an efficient solution for trees and shrubs.

Compact 25.4 cm design

The RWS-S-B-1401 features a semi-rigid perforated basket measuring 5.1 cm in diameter and 25.4 cm in length. A 5.1 cm snap-on cap closes the top of the assembly, while a matching base cap is fitted at the bottom.

During installation, the top of the cap should be positioned flush with finished grade or the top of the mulch layer. Rain Bird recommends filling the basket with pea gravel after installation before replacing the top cap.

Easy connection to the irrigation line

A factory-installed ½" spiral barb elbow simplifies connection to the irrigation supply line. The connection incorporates a ½" male NPT inlet.

The system is supplied as a factory-assembled unit, eliminating the need to assemble the bubbler, basket and connection individually. The RWS-S-B-1401 can be incorporated into an automatically controlled irrigation zone.
