The Rain Bird XFF-COUP is a straight insert coupling designed to securely connect two 17 mm Rain Bird XF Series dripline sections. The double-ended fitting can be used to extend a dripline, connect two sections of tubing or repair an existing irrigation line.

The coupling was specifically developed for Rain Bird XF Dripline. Its high-quality barbs securely grip the tubing while providing quick installation without threaded connections or complicated fittings.

Connect two XF dripline sections

The XFF-COUP features a 17 mm barb connection on both sides. This allows two compatible XF dripline sections to be connected in a straight line, making the fitting particularly useful when installing longer irrigation runs or subsequently extending an existing system.

The straight coupling is also useful for repairs. A damaged section of dripline can be removed and the remaining tubing reconnected using an XFF-COUP.

Secure self-retaining connection

Rain Bird designed the XF fitting barbs to reduce the insertion force required while still providing a secure grip on the dripline. The specially shaped barbs securely retain the tubing once installed.

This makes the fitting suitable for small garden irrigation systems as well as larger drip irrigation installations. Additional clamps are not required within the specified normal operating pressure range.

The XFF-COUP is designed for 17 mm Rain Bird XF Series dripline. Compatible products include XFD Dripline as well as XFS Subsurface Dripline for below-ground drip irrigation.

The coupling can therefore be used in both surface and subsurface XF irrigation systems. Its unobtrusive earth-tone appearance also helps the fitting blend into landscaped and planted areas.

Simple barb fitting installation

For installation, cut the dripline square and push the tubing onto one of the coupling barbs. Repeat the process with the second tubing section on the opposite side. Avoid heating the polyethylene tubing before installation, as this can weaken the connection and damage the tubing.

For larger installations, the Rain Bird FITINS-TOOL can also be used. This insertion tool is specifically compatible with the XFF-COUP and reduces the effort required to insert the fitting into the dripline.
