Rain Bird ILCRBY100D high-capacity disc filter 1-inch M thread

High-capacity filtration for irrigation systems

The Rain Bird ILCRBY100D is a high-capacity disc filter designed for irrigation systems requiring reliable water filtration combined with relatively high flow rates. Its large filtration area makes it suitable for residential garden irrigation as well as larger commercial and municipal applications.

Clean water is particularly important in drip and micro irrigation systems. The filter captures contaminants before they can reach drippers, dripline, micro-sprays and other components with small water passages.

130 micron disc filtration

The ILCRBY100D uses a disc filter with a filtration rating of 130 micron, corresponding to 120 mesh. Water passes through a stack of grooved filter discs where contaminants are captured within the filtration structure.

This depth-filtration principle is particularly useful with irrigation water containing organic contaminants. The disc stack provides numerous filtration paths where debris can be retained before reaching downstream irrigation components.

180 cm² filtration area and up to 6 m³/h

The 1" model provides a filtration area of 180 cm². Rain Bird specifies a maximum recommended flow rate of up to 6 m³/h. The large filtration surface helps extend cleaning intervals and can therefore reduce routine irrigation system maintenance.

The maximum operating pressure is 8 bar. The ILCRBY100D does not include pressure regulation. If downstream drippers, dripline or other irrigation components require a specific operating pressure, a suitable separate pressure regulator should be installed.

Easy-to-clean filter discs

The disc stack can be removed from the filter housing for cleaning. The discs can be decompressed, allowing the individual surfaces and grooves to be rinsed more effectively with clean water. The filter element is then reassembled and returned to the housing.

This reusable filtration system is particularly useful in irrigation systems where contaminants regularly occur in the water supply. Instead of routinely replacing disposable cartridges, the existing disc element can be cleaned and reused.

1" BSP version for international systems

The ILCRBY100D is the international version of the Rain Bird LCRBY100D and features 1" BSP connections. It is therefore suitable for irrigation systems using corresponding international and European BSP threaded fittings.

Rain Bird recommends installation downstream of a valve or shut-off point so that the filter is not continuously exposed to line pressure. Sufficient clearance should be provided around the housing to allow easy removal of the filter element during maintenance.

Frequently asked questions about the ILCRBY100D

What is the filtration rating of the ILCRBY100D?

The filter discs provide a filtration rating of 130 micron, corresponding to 120 mesh, helping to prevent contaminants from reaching downstream irrigation components.

What is the maximum recommended flow rate?

Rain Bird specifies a maximum recommended flow rate of up to 6 m³/h for the 1" model. The filtration area is 180 cm².

Why choose a disc filter instead of a screen filter?

Disc filters provide depth filtration through a stack of grooved filter discs. They are particularly useful with water containing higher levels of organic contaminants and provide a large effective filtration area.

Can the disc filter be cleaned?

Yes. The disc stack can be removed from the housing and decompressed for cleaning, making it easier to rinse contaminants from between the individual filter discs.

Does the ILCRBY100D regulate water pressure?

No. The ILCRBY100D provides filtration only. A separate pressure regulator is required if downstream irrigation components need reduced or controlled operating pressure.

What is the difference between the ILCRBY100D and ILCRBY100S?

The ILCRBY100D uses a disc filter, while the ILCRBY100S uses a screen filter element. Both international models feature 1" BSP connections and 130 micron filtration but use different filtration technologies.
