Xeri-Bug emitter with integrated check valve
The Rain Bird XBCV-05PC Xeri-Bug is a pressure-compensating point-source emitter with an integrated check valve for controlled micro irrigation. With a nominal flow rate of 1.89 l/h or approximately 1.9 l/h, it is ideal for targeted irrigation of shrubs, perennials, trees, container plants and other individual plants.
This pack contains 10 blue XBCV-05PC emitters. Unlike the standard XB-05PC, the XBCV-05PC incorporates a check valve that retains water in the irrigation line after the system is switched off, reducing unwanted drainage from emitters positioned at lower elevations.
Holds back up to 3 m of water
The integrated check valve has a hold-back pressure of approximately 0.3 bar and can retain a water column of up to 3 m. This makes the XBCV-05PC particularly suitable for slopes, elevated planting areas and other irrigation systems with changes in elevation.
With conventional emitters, water remaining in the distribution line can continue to drain through emitters located at the lowest points after irrigation stops. The XBCV-05PC reduces this low-point drainage. Retaining water in the lines can also help the irrigation system pressurize more quickly and evenly when the next watering cycle begins.
Pressure-compensating flow of 1.9 l/h
The XBCV-05PC is pressure-compensating and provides a largely consistent flow throughout its specified operating pressure range of 1.0 to 3.5 bar. Its nominal flow rate is 1.89 l/h or 0.5 GPH. Rain Bird uses blue color coding to identify this flow rate.
This allows several plants within the same irrigation zone to receive a defined amount of water. The combination of pressure compensation and an integrated check valve is particularly useful in longer irrigation lines and installations with varying elevations.
Self-piercing barb for easy installation
The XBCV-05PC features a self-piercing barb inlet and can be installed directly into suitable ½" or ¾" drip and distribution tubing. The Rain Bird XM-TOOL Xeriman can be used for quick and convenient installation.
The outlet securely accepts ¼" distribution tubing. Rain Bird XQ 4/6 mm micro tubing can therefore be connected to carry the regulated water flow directly to the required root zone.
Self-flushing and durable construction
The self-flushing design supports reliable operation and helps minimize clogging. Rain Bird specifies a filtration requirement of 75 microns or 200 mesh for the blue XBCV-05PC with a nominal flow rate of 1.89 l/h.
The durable plastic construction is UV-resistant and made from highly inert materials with good chemical resistance, making the emitter suitable for long-term outdoor micro irrigation applications.

Frequently asked questions about the XBCV-05PC
What is the difference between the XB-05PC and XBCV-05PC?
Both are blue pressure-compensating emitters with a nominal flow rate of 1.89 l/h. The XBCV-05PC additionally incorporates a check valve capable of holding back up to 3 m of water, helping reduce drainage from emitters located at lower elevations.
Where is the check valve particularly useful?
The check valve is particularly useful on slopes, elevated planting areas, raised beds and other installations with elevation changes. It helps prevent the distribution line from draining through emitters at the lowest points.
How much water does each XBCV-05PC deliver?
Each XBCV-05PC has a nominal flow rate of 1.89 l/h or 0.5 GPH. Ten emitters operating simultaneously therefore have a combined nominal flow of 18.9 l/h.
How much elevation can the check valve hold back?
The integrated check valve has a hold-back pressure of approximately 0.3 bar and can retain a water column of up to 3 m.
What operating pressure does the XBCV-05PC require?
The specified operating pressure range is 1.0 to 3.5 bar. Within this range, pressure compensation provides a largely consistent water output.
Can micro tubing be connected to the emitter?
Yes. The outlet is designed for ¼" distribution tubing, including Rain Bird XQ 4/6 mm micro tubing.
What filtration does the XBCV-05PC require?
Rain Bird specifies filtration of 75 microns or 200 mesh for the blue 1.89 l/h XBCV-05PC.
How is the XBCV-05PC installed?
The self-piercing barb can be inserted directly into suitable ½" or ¾" drip or distribution tubing. The Rain Bird XM-TOOL Xeriman makes installation quick and convenient.
