Pressure-compensating emitter with 68.13 l/h
The Rain Bird PC-18 is a pressure-compensating point-source emitter designed for plants with higher water requirements. With a nominal flow rate of 68.13 l/h per emitter, it is particularly suitable for larger shrubs, trees and other plants that require considerably more water than conventional low-flow drip emitters can provide.
This pack contains 5 PC-18 emitters. The integrated pressure-compensating design provides largely uniform water delivery throughout the specified operating pressure range, allowing several plants within the same micro irrigation zone to be supplied efficiently and precisely.
68.13 l/h for larger plants
With a nominal flow rate of 68.13 l/h or 18 GPH, the PC-18 delivers considerably more water than conventional low-flow drip emitters. This makes it particularly suitable for larger woody plants, shrubs and trees as well as irrigation points where a higher volume of water is required within a shorter period.
Rain Bird uses color coding to identify the different flow rates within the PC range. The PC-18 is white and delivers 68.13 l/h. For comparison, the dark brown PC-12 delivers 45.42 l/h, while the orange PC-24 provides 90.84 l/h.
Pressure-compensating from 0.7 to 3.5 bar
The Rain Bird PC-18 operates within a pressure range of 0.7 to 3.5 bar. Its pressure-compensating design maintains a largely consistent flow rate throughout this range, helping provide uniform water delivery when several emitters are installed along the same irrigation line.
Rain Bird specifies required filtration of 150 microns or 100 mesh. Proper filtration protects the small internal water passages against contaminants and helps maintain reliable long-term operation.
Easy installation with self-piercing barb
The PC-18 features a self-piercing barb inlet for direct installation into suitable drip and polyethylene tubing. Rain Bird recommends the XM-TOOL Xeriman installation tool for quick and convenient installation of PC Modules with self-piercing barbs.
The PC-18 has a barb inlet and barb outlet. A ¼" distribution tube can therefore be connected to the outlet, allowing the regulated water flow to be carried through micro tubing directly to the required irrigation point.
Use with a PC Diffuser Cap
When the PC-18 is used as the final point of emission, for example at the end of ¼" distribution tubing or on a PolyFlex riser, Rain Bird requires a suitable PC Diffuser Cap. The cap diffuses the outlet stream and prevents the water from exiting as a concentrated jet.
The combination of high flow, pressure compensation and flexible installation makes the PC-18 particularly suitable for micro irrigation systems where larger plants need to receive a defined volume of water at a specific location.

Frequently asked questions about the Rain Bird PC-18
How much water does each PC-18 deliver?
Each Rain Bird PC-18 has a nominal flow rate of 68.13 l/h, equivalent to 18 GPH. The specified flow rate applies to each individual emitter.
Does 68.13 l/h refer to all 5 emitters?
No. The flow rate applies to each emitter. Five PC-18 emitters operating simultaneously at their nominal flow rate have a combined flow of approximately 340.65 l/h.
What plants is the PC-18 suitable for?
The PC-18 is particularly suitable for larger shrubs, trees and other plants with higher water requirements. Its 68.13 l/h flow rate is considerably higher than that of conventional low-flow drip emitters.
What is the difference between the PC-12 and PC-18?
The main difference is the flow rate. The dark brown PC-12 delivers 45.42 l/h, while the white PC-18 delivers 68.13 l/h, making the PC-18 suitable for irrigation points with higher water requirements.
What does the white color indicate?
Rain Bird uses color coding to identify the flow rate. White identifies the PC-18 with a nominal flow rate of 68.13 l/h or 18 GPH.
What operating pressure does the PC-18 require?
The specified operating pressure range is 0.7 to 3.5 bar. Within this range, the pressure-compensating design maintains a largely consistent water output.
Can micro tubing be connected?
Yes. ¼" distribution tubing can be connected to the outlet, allowing the regulated water flow to be carried through micro tubing to the required irrigation point.
When is a PC Diffuser Cap required?
When the PC-18 is used as the final point of emission, such as at the end of ¼" distribution tubing, a suitable PC Diffuser Cap must be installed to diffuse the outlet stream and prevent squirting.
