The Rain Bird ESP-HT2-BSP Premium Water Timer is a simple way to automate garden irrigation without installing a conventional irrigation controller or electrical wiring. The timer connects directly to a suitable outdoor tap and can automatically control hose-end sprinklers, soaker hoses and drip irrigation systems.

It is particularly suitable for home gardens, lawns, flower beds, raised beds, hedges and other areas supplied directly from an outdoor tap. The ESP-HT2-BSP controls one irrigation zone and automatically opens and closes the water supply according to your programmed watering schedule.

Easy to install and set up yourself

No complicated wiring or mains power connection is required. The water timer is installed directly on the outdoor tap. The BSP version features a ¾-inch female BSP inlet and a ¾-inch male BSP outlet. Your irrigation hose or irrigation system is then connected to the outlet.

Power is supplied by two standard AA alkaline batteries. This means the controller operates independently of a power socket and can be used wherever an electrical connection is unavailable. Batteries are not included.

Programming is designed to be straightforward. A large programming dial, easy-to-read LCD display and clearly arranged buttons guide you through the settings. The current time, watering start times, watering duration and watering days can all be configured directly on the timer.

Flexible watering with up to four daily start times

The ESP-HT2-BSP offers seven-day programming, allowing you to select the specific days of the week on which irrigation should run automatically. Up to four start times can be scheduled per day, providing considerably more flexibility than a basic mechanical water timer.

Multiple start times are particularly useful on heavy or clay soils. Instead of applying a large amount of water in one long cycle, irrigation can be divided into several shorter cycles. This gives the water more time to soak into the soil and can help reduce surface runoff. The same approach can also be useful on sloping areas.

Watering duration can be programmed for up to six hours per cycle. This makes the timer suitable not only for conventional hose-end sprinklers but also for soaker hoses and drip irrigation systems that may require longer watering periods at lower flow rates.

Manual watering and rain delay

If you want to irrigate outside the programmed schedule, the ESP-HT2-BSP provides a convenient manual watering function. The “Water Now” button lets you start watering without changing your stored automatic schedule.

A rain delay function is also available. If sufficient rain has fallen or rain is expected, automatic irrigation can be suspended for up to 96 hours. Once the selected delay has ended, the timer automatically returns to its normal programmed schedule.

The large LCD display provides useful watering information at a glance, including the next scheduled watering cycle and the remaining time of a currently active cycle.

Durable quality with brass connections

Rain Bird equips the Premium Water Timer with durable brass connections. Both the female inlet coupling and threaded male outlet are designed to provide a strong and reliable connection. Compared with simple plastic threads, the metal fittings provide additional durability when the timer is regularly installed and removed and help reduce the risk of accidental cross-threading.

Inside the timer is a high-flow valve designed for low pressure loss. This helps maintain as much of the available water pressure and flow as possible for the connected irrigation system. The BSP version is designed for compatible BSP threaded connections commonly used in European irrigation installations.

No Wi-Fi and no app required

The Rain Bird ESP-HT2-BSP does not feature Wi-Fi and does not require a smartphone or app. All settings are made directly on the timer using the programming dial, LCD display and control buttons.

The Rain Bird 2.0 app is not used with this model. This makes the ESP-HT2-BSP particularly suitable if you want a straightforward and independent tap-mounted irrigation controller. There is no Wi-Fi network to configure, no internet connection is required and automatic irrigation runs locally according to the stored schedule.
