Automatic irrigation control for eight zones

The Rain Bird ESP-TM2-8-230V is a reliable irrigation controller designed to operate up to eight independent watering zones. Its protective enclosure is suitable for indoor and outdoor installation and makes it ideal for larger residential irrigation systems.

Eight stations allow lawns, flower beds, hedges and drip irrigation areas to be controlled separately according to their individual watering requirements. The controller operates automatically without Wi-Fi or internet access and can later be upgraded with the optional Rain Bird LNK2 WiFi module.

Suitable for indoor and outdoor installation

The ESP-TM2-8-230V features a protective plastic wall-mounted enclosure. Rain Bird specifies an IP24 protection rating for the 230V version.

The enclosure measures approximately 20.1 cm wide, 20.0 cm high and 9.0 cm deep. Unlike the TM2I8-230V indoor-only version, this model is designed for indoor or outdoor installation.

Simple controller operation

A backlit display, central dial and clearly arranged buttons make programming straightforward. Watering days, start times and station run times can be configured directly at the controller.

Wi-Fi and internet access are not required for normal automatic operation. Individual stations and programs can also be started manually for testing and maintenance.

Eight independent irrigation circuits

Each of the eight stations normally controls one 24V AC irrigation valve. Multiple sprinklers can operate downstream of each valve, provided that available pressure and flow are sufficient for their combined water demand.

Three independent programs

The ESP-TM2 provides three independent programs with up to four start times per program. Station run times can be programmed from 1 minute up to 6 hours.

Watering can be scheduled using selected weekdays, odd or even calendar days or cyclic schedules. Irrigation can also be temporarily delayed for up to 14 days.

Seasonal adjustment

Seasonal adjustment from 5 to 200% allows watering duration to be changed without individually reprogramming every station.

24V AC irrigation valve control

The ESP-TM2-8-230V is designed for conventional 24V AC irrigation valves. Suitable examples include appropriate 24V versions of Rain Bird HV, DV, DVF, PGA and PEB valves.

Battery-operated 9V DC latching solenoids cannot be connected directly to the controller.

230V supply and 24V valve control

The 230V designation refers to the controller's mains power supply. Connected irrigation valves are controlled using 24V AC.

Rain sensor connection

A compatible rain or rain/freeze sensor can be connected directly to the ESP-TM2. Sensor bypass can be configured for individual stations when required.

Master valve and pump-start support

The controller supports a master valve or pump-start circuit. An irrigation pump requires a suitable external pump-start relay or pump control system.

Wi-Fi upgrade with LNK2

Wi-Fi is not built into the ESP-TM2-8-230V. The separately available Rain Bird LNK2 WiFi module can be installed in the dedicated accessory port to add network connectivity.

Smartphone and remote control

With the LNK2 installed, supported irrigation functions can be managed from a compatible smartphone. Remote access is available when an internet connection is present.

The LNK2 requires a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network.

Continues watering without Wi-Fi

Irrigation programs are stored locally in the ESP-TM2. Automatic watering therefore continues if Wi-Fi or internet access is temporarily unavailable.

Fixed eight-station capacity

The ESP-TM2-8-230V provides eight fixed station outputs and cannot be expanded with additional station modules. Choose the 12-station version or a modular controller if additional zones may be required later.
