Add three irrigation zones

The Rain Bird ESP-SM3 expansion module adds three additional stations to a compatible ESP-ME3 irrigation controller. It installs directly into an available module slot, allowing an existing irrigation system to be expanded without replacing the complete controller.

Each additional station can control another irrigation circuit, making it possible to add separate lawn areas, planting beds, hedges or drip irrigation zones as your system grows.

Designed for ESP-ME3 expansion

The ESP-ME3 includes four stations in its base configuration and can be expanded to a maximum of 22 stations. The ESP-SM3 provides three additional station connections for this modular system.

This allows you to start with a smaller irrigation system and add additional zones later as required.

Simple installation inside the controller

The ESP-SM3 installs directly into an available module slot inside the ESP-ME3 controller. Once positioned correctly, the integrated locking lever secures the module in place. No separate power supply is required.

Rain Bird specifies the module as hot-swappable, allowing it to be installed or removed with or without AC power connected. Appropriate Rain Bird installation and electrical safety instructions should nevertheless always be followed when working on the controller.

Three additional valve stations

Once installed, three additional station outputs become available. Each station can control another irrigation circuit using a suitable 24V AC irrigation valve.

The common valve wiring continues to use the controller's COM connection, so adding the module does not change the fundamental wiring or operation of the ESP-ME3.

Combine ESP-SM3 and ESP-SM6 modules

In addition to the three-station ESP-SM3, Rain Bird offers the ESP-SM6 with six additional stations. Both module sizes can be used to configure the ESP-ME3 according to the required number of irrigation zones, up to a maximum of 22 stations.

For ideal station sequencing, Rain Bird recommends installing all six-station modules before installing a three-station module.
