Rain Bird MPR-5H spray nozzle - 180° half-circle - 1.1 to 1.5 m radius

Rain Bird MPR-5H spray nozzle for short lawn edges

The Rain Bird MPR-5H is a fixed-pattern spray nozzle with a 180° half-circle spray pattern and a radius of 1.1 to 1.5 m. It is particularly suitable for automatic irrigation of short lawn edges, narrow grass strips and compact landscaped areas along paths or patios. Its limited spray radius makes it possible to water small areas without using a nozzle designed for a much greater distance.

The MPR-5H belongs to the Rain Bird MPR Series, which features matched precipitation rates for coordinated water distribution. Its semicircular spray pattern directs water to one side of the sprinkler, making it a practical choice for straight lawn boundaries where short-distance coverage is required.

180° half-circle coverage with a short spray radius

The fixed 180° spray pattern makes the Rain Bird MPR-5H suitable for sprinklers installed along straight lawn edges. It distributes water over a half-circle area, helping keep irrigation focused on the grass rather than nearby paths, patios or walls. This makes the nozzle useful for smaller gardens with clearly defined lawn boundaries.

The spray radius ranges from 1.1 to 1.5 m depending on operating pressure. At the optimum pressure of 2.1 bar, the nozzle reaches approximately 1.5 m. Its low 5° spray trajectory keeps the water stream close to the ground. An integrated stainless steel adjustment screw allows the radius to be reduced when required.

Matched precipitation rates for balanced irrigation

MPR stands for Matched Precipitation Rate. Rain Bird MPR nozzles are designed with coordinated precipitation rates across different spray patterns. This makes it easier to combine quarter-circle, half-circle and full-circle nozzles in a properly designed irrigation system while maintaining consistent water application.

The Rain Bird MPR-5H has a flow rate of approximately 0.5 to 0.9 l/min depending on pressure. At 2.1 bar, this corresponds to about 54 litres per hour when calculated from the rounded metric flow rate. Correct sprinkler spacing, adequate overlap and suitable operating pressure remain essential for uniform lawn irrigation.

Easy installation on Rain Bird spray bodies

The Rain Bird MPR-5H fits compatible Rain Bird spray bodies and suitable shrub adapters, including models from the Rain Bird 1800 Series. A blue fine-mesh filter screen helps prevent debris from entering the nozzle. The stainless steel adjustment screw allows convenient radius adjustment during installation.

For compact lawn irrigation systems, the MPR-5H can be combined with suitable MPR-5Q quarter-circle and MPR-5F full-circle nozzles. Their flow rates differ according to the spray pattern. Make sure adjacent sprinklers overlap sufficiently and the available water supply meets the requirements of the irrigation zone.

Frequently asked questions about the Rain Bird MPR-5H

What is the spray radius of the Rain Bird MPR-5H?

The spray radius ranges from 1.1 to 1.5 m depending on operating pressure. At 2.1 bar, the nozzle reaches approximately 1.5 m.

Can the 180° spray angle be adjusted?

No. The MPR-5H has a fixed half-circle spray pattern. However, the radius can be reduced using the integrated stainless steel adjustment screw.

How much water does the MPR-5H use?

The flow rate ranges from 0.5 to 0.9 l/min, equivalent to approximately 30 to 54 litres per hour when calculated from the rounded performance figures.

What does MPR mean?

MPR stands for Matched Precipitation Rate. These nozzles are designed to provide coordinated precipitation rates across different spray patterns when used in a correctly planned irrigation system.

Which sprinkler bodies are compatible?

The Rain Bird MPR-5H fits compatible Rain Bird spray bodies and shrub adapters, including models from the Rain Bird 1800 Series.

Can I combine the MPR-5H with other MPR nozzles?

Yes. It can be combined with suitable MPR-5Q quarter-circle and MPR-5F full-circle nozzles. Their different flow rates and the required sprinkler spacing should be considered during system design.
