Rain Bird ILCRBY150D high-capacity disc filter 1½-inch M thread

High-capacity filtration for larger irrigation systems

The Rain Bird ILCRBY150D is a high-capacity disc filter designed for irrigation systems with higher water demand. Its 1½" size combines high flow capacity with a large filtration area, making it suitable for larger residential, commercial and municipal irrigation systems.

The filter removes contaminants from irrigation water before they can reach drippers, dripline, micro-sprays, control valves and other downstream components. Reliable filtration is particularly important in extensive drip and micro irrigation systems where small water passages can be affected by debris.

130 micron disc filtration

The filter element consists of grooved plastic discs providing a filtration rating of 130 micron, corresponding to 120 mesh. As water passes through the compressed disc stack, contaminants are captured within the numerous filtration paths.

Disc filtration provides depth filtration and is particularly useful with water containing both mineral particles and organic contaminants. Rain Bird therefore recommends disc filtration especially for dirtier water supplies and applications with higher organic content.

Flow rates up to 14 m³/h

The ILCRBY150D is designed for a maximum flow rate of up to 14 m³/h. This gives the 1½" model substantially greater capacity than the compact 1" version and makes it suitable for larger irrigation zones.

The filtration area is 310 cm². Combining a large filtration surface with high flow capacity helps reduce loading on the filter element and can extend the intervals between cleaning operations.

Removable and reusable disc element

The disc stack can be removed from the filter housing for maintenance. The discs decompress for cleaning, allowing water to remove accumulated contaminants more effectively from the grooves and spaces between the individual discs.

After cleaning, the filter element can be reassembled and reused. This reduces the need for regularly replacing disposable filter elements and makes the ILCRBY150D a practical solution for permanently installed irrigation systems.

1½" BSP male connections

The ILCRBY150D is the international Rain Bird version featuring 1½" BSP connections. Male threaded inlet and outlet connections allow integration into appropriately sized irrigation pipelines and fittings.

The durable filter housing is rated for a maximum operating pressure of 8 bar and water temperatures up to 60 °C. Pressure regulation is not integrated. A separate pressure regulator should be installed if downstream irrigation components require a lower operating pressure.

Frequently asked questions about the ILCRBY150D

What is the maximum flow rate of the ILCRBY150D?

Rain Bird specifies a maximum flow rate of up to 14 m³/h for the 1½" Large-Capacity filter, making it suitable for larger irrigation zones with higher water demand.

What is the filtration rating?

The disc stack provides 130 micron filtration, corresponding to 120 mesh. The filtration area of the 1½" model is 310 cm².

When is a disc filter particularly useful?

Disc filtration is particularly useful with dirtier water supplies and water containing organic contaminants. Debris can be captured within the numerous grooves and filtration paths throughout the disc stack.

How is the ILCRBY150D cleaned?

The disc stack can be removed from the housing and decompressed for cleaning. This allows contaminants to be rinsed from the grooves and spaces between the individual filter discs before the element is reassembled.

What is the difference between the ILCRBY150D and ILCRBY150S?

Both models feature 1½" BSP connections and 130 micron filtration. The ILCRBY150D uses plastic filter discs, while the ILCRBY150S uses a stainless steel screen. The disc version provides a filtration area of 310 cm².

Does the ILCRBY150D include a pressure regulator?

No. The ILCRBY150D provides filtration only. A separate pressure regulator is required when downstream drippers, dripline or other irrigation components need reduced operating pressure.
