Rain Bird MPR-5Q spray nozzle - 90° quarter-circle - 1.1 to 1.5 m radius

Rain Bird MPR-5Q spray nozzle for small lawn corners

The Rain Bird MPR-5Q is a fixed-pattern spray nozzle with a 90° quarter-circle spray pattern and a radius of 1.1 to 1.5 m. It is particularly suitable for automatic irrigation of small lawn corners, compact landscaped areas and narrow garden spaces. Its short spray radius allows you to water areas where larger sprinkler nozzles would provide excessive coverage.

The MPR-5Q belongs to the Rain Bird MPR Series, designed with matched precipitation rates to simplify irrigation system planning. Its quarter-circle spray pattern is especially useful for sprinkler positions where two straight lawn edges meet, helping keep water within the intended landscaped area.

90° quarter-circle coverage with a short spray radius

The fixed 90° spray angle makes the Rain Bird MPR-5Q a practical choice for lawn corners next to patios, pathways, walls and flower beds. It distributes water over a quarter-circle area, making it easier to irrigate small, clearly defined sections without using a nozzle with a longer radius than necessary.

The spray radius ranges from 1.1 to 1.5 m depending on operating pressure. At the optimum pressure of 2.1 bar, the nozzle achieves approximately 1.5 m. Its low 5° spray trajectory keeps the water stream close to the ground. The integrated stainless steel adjustment screw allows the radius to be reduced when required.

Matched precipitation rates for uniform irrigation

MPR stands for Matched Precipitation Rate. Rain Bird MPR nozzles are designed with coordinated precipitation rates across different spray patterns and selected nozzle series. This makes it easier to combine quarter-circle, half-circle and full-circle nozzles in a properly designed irrigation system while maintaining balanced water application.

The Rain Bird MPR-5Q has a low flow rate, making it suitable for small watering areas. Correct sprinkler spacing, adequate overlap and consistent operating pressure are still essential for uniform irrigation. Matching the nozzle to the dimensions of your lawn helps prevent unnecessary watering beyond the intended area.

Easy installation on Rain Bird spray bodies

The Rain Bird MPR-5Q fits compatible Rain Bird spray bodies and shrub adapters, including models from the Rain Bird 1800 Series. A blue fine-mesh filter screen helps prevent debris from entering the nozzle. The stainless steel adjustment screw provides a convenient way to fine-tune the spray radius during installation.

For small lawn irrigation systems, the MPR-5Q can be combined with suitable MPR-5H half-circle and MPR-5F full-circle nozzles. These models have different flow rates matched to their respective spray patterns. Ensure that adjacent sprinklers provide sufficient overlap and that the available water pressure meets the requirements of the system.

Frequently asked questions about the Rain Bird MPR-5Q

What is the spray radius of the Rain Bird MPR-5Q?

The spray radius ranges from 1.1 to 1.5 m depending on operating pressure. At 2.1 bar, the nozzle reaches approximately 1.5 m.

Can the 90° spray angle be adjusted?

No. The MPR-5Q has a fixed quarter-circle spray pattern. However, the radius can be reduced using the integrated stainless steel adjustment screw.

How much water does the MPR-5Q use?

The rounded metric performance chart lists a flow rate of approximately 0.4 l/min, equivalent to about 24 litres per hour when calculated from that rounded figure.

What does MPR mean?

MPR stands for Matched Precipitation Rate. The nozzles are designed to provide coordinated precipitation rates across different spray patterns, supporting uniform irrigation when correctly installed.

Which sprinkler bodies are compatible?

The Rain Bird MPR-5Q fits compatible Rain Bird spray bodies and shrub adapters, including models from the Rain Bird 1800 Series.

Can I combine the MPR-5Q with other MPR nozzles?

Yes. It can be combined with suitable MPR-5H half-circle and MPR-5F full-circle nozzles. Their different flow rates and the required sprinkler spacing should be considered during system design.
